WAVE THREE - IMPROVE YOUR DIGESTION
Optimizing digestion should be one of the primary components of entering the wave state. You can eat the best foods in the world but if they are not digested properly, who cares. Here is your 4 point plan to optimizing digestion.
1. Eliminate foods that are hard to digest. Anything processed and refined but also many supposed health foods are actually really hard to digest and can lead to bloating. For example - Nuts, quinoa, leafy greens, broccoli, brussel sprouts, nut milks with additives, protein powders. Oh yeah, gluten is hard to digest also, so limit consumption and/or only eat when you are in Europe and have access to high quality grains. Lastly, be careful with kombucha and fermented foods, they can often exacerbate digestive issues and are often best avoided or used in very small amounts. Hint: the large bottle of kombucha that they sell should last you like a week or more.
2. Be mindful when you eat. Think about the smell, taste and texture of your food and even where it came from. Cooking aids in this process so cook your meals when you can. Hunting or picking your food also helps, but chances are none of you are going to do that :) All of these things help put your body in a state known as “rest and digest” as opposed to “fight or flight”. When in a fight or flight state your body diverts resources away from digestion and the associated processes.
3. Start your meal with foods that support digestion. A little lemon juice, some vinegar, some arugula, papaya or pineapple.
4. Address any issues related to your Solar Plexus. Issues with this chakra are often linked to digestion problems. Problems with this chakra usually relate to mental and emotional trauma so you will need to be very open with yourself here and/or work with someone.
Okay, those are the basics. A variety of things can go wrong and normally do. Stress, alcohol, antibiotics, bacterial infections and imbalances, parasites, fungal infections are all things that can throw this process off. I can tell you that something as simple as being mindful when you eat and thinking about the taste and texture of your food and where it came from goes a long way to support this highly complex process. Happy digesting.
